UK Group Aims to Establish CBD Framework, Starting With THC Limits

The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) recommendations for THC limits in CBD products are far too restrictive for industry development and are likely very harmful for domestic producers, the high limit on THC disincentivizing production and investment from larger international businesses and organisations.

There are currently over 6000 products going through novel foods approval process; CBD makers and sellers need a definitive understanding of what levels of THC are acceptable, so they can develop formulas that meet that limit.

Though an official limit needs to be established around the THC levels allowed in CBD products, the ACMD’s recommended 50mcg limit on THC would affectively shut down domestic farmers and producers, eliminating the UK’s potential to dominate the global cannabis market.
