Speaking at the annual Jersey Farming Conference on Thursday, Tenacious Lab’s Nick Morland highlights that Jersey has a six-month window to finalise plans for a high-end cannabis industry before the globe catches up, pointing out that Jersey’s laws and regulations allowing the cultivation and production of cannabidiol were miles ahead of other national governments and markets.

However, Morland was adamant that Jersey should focus their efforts on the premium end of the cannabis market, taking influence from Scotland’s cornering of whiskey production, stating that the island was not the right the environment for mass market CBD production.

Using examples from his own company, Morland suggests that a focus on high-end product and quality would likely attract discretionary investors who would be seeking to fund high-end products in a budding industry.
